Individuality Note

Individuality Note:
People of Phialdelphia
by Ameer Holmes

Re-PLACE-ing Philadelphia is building an expanded archive of cultural memory that includes multiple histories, re-place-ing the established with new narratives and understandings. Notes consider place via the street, sound, food, trees, and other portals.

In partnership with educator Joshua Block, students from Philadelphia's Science Leadership Academy are creating and publishing their Philadelphia Field Notes. For Ameer's field note he created a video that explores people of Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is a place of diversity, art, and beauty, thus all of it’s inhabitants are inherently idiosyncratic artists. This grand urban city has invited people from all over for decades. Taking a look at Philadelphia, you see how the individuality of the sculpture of a human soul come together to construct a masterpiece. When you live life in Philadelphia you get used to the feeling of being a brush stroke in the pool of paint on the canvas. Sometimes it helps to take a step back and observe the art. As a Philadelphian, it will give you a greater perspective of self. Musicians, dancers, painters, constructors, builders, writers, creators  flood the streets we walk through every day. These humans express themselves through their actions, the things they do, the clothes they wear, the way they walk and talk. Taking a look at all these things, you will see the greatness of Philly.
